Christian Dating Advisor proudly presents e-Lesson #1:
Being a Christian single certainly isn't easy. We are called as Christians to focus on God and trust him in everything. So the question is, do we trust him to bring that special person into our lives, or do we "get out there" and actively search for them?
The answer is both.
Let me explain... We need to *trust* God *while* searching for someone.
This means that we don't let anxiety, worry and frustration rule our searching.
It's not the searching itself that's the problem. It's where your focus lies. The problems really start when your searching begins to affect your spiritual walk.
How can searching affect your spiritual walk? If you become consumed with your search, your attention and your time are spent away from God. You need to worry first about filling the "spiritual" need in your life, and then you can think about the "partner" need.
Rest assured, if it is Gods will, he will bring that person into your life. Just be patient, get "out there", and enjoy the search!
Speaking of searching, is it the right time for you to be searching? First of all, let's define what we mean by "searching"...
We define "searching" as going outside of regular church activities and your regular group of friends and finding new places and ways to meet other Christians.
If you feel that you are somewhat settled in life, but you don't have many opportunities to meet other single Christians, then it's a great time to be searching.
Just remember, to be settled does not mean being perfect and having everything together. It makes things easier if you are somewhat financially and emotionally stable. But in the end, a person should love you "rich or poor" and if they have a problem with the "poor" part, then they're not worth your time anyway.
Pray about it. Ask God if it's the right time for you to be searching for a partner. If you feel you have a "green light", then the question becomes, *how* do you begin to start searching?
We'll leave you with this verse... one of our favourites.
"Don't have so little faith! Don't worry and say, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear?' (or who will I marry??). The people who don't know God keep trying to get these things, and your Father in heaven knows you need them. The thing you should want most is God's kingdom and doing what God wants. Then all these other things you need will be given to you. So don't worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will have it's own worries." Matthew 6:30-34
In the next lesson we'll give you our take on church hopping...what we recommend may surprise you :)
