Christian Dating Advisor proudly presents e-Lesson #20:
You'll get alot more interest in your profile if you use a photo. The rule is this...if you decide to use a photo then make it a good one. A bad photo is worse than no photo at all.
There are some definite no-nos when it comes to the photos you use...
Here is a list of tips that we found from Sharon Schroeder at Match.com.
We removed some, modified others and added some of our own.
So here we go:
1. Men keep your shirt on and women no bikini shots (this a Christian site after all)
2. Don't have an arm slung around someone else's waist
3. Don't stand in front of a picture of a yacht unless it's yours
4. Your close up should actually be close up
5. Make sure you get rid of any red eye...otherwise you'll look evil.
6. Don't squint
7. A crooked photo creates a crooked neck and nothing more
8. Do not show any of your tattoos if you have them.
9. Smile... if you have your front teeth
10. Don't wear an outfit two sizes too small, you want them to take a second look, not cover their eyes
11. Do not wear sunglasses, wearing shades doesn't show off the sparkle in your baby blues
12. Blowing a kiss at the camera could just blow your chances
13. Nix the group shot, you are the star here, and don't just cut someone out of the picture, that gets people wondering who it was.
14. Don't make your funny face or scrunch up your nose
15. Use a recent photo
16. Lose the hat and let her see your beautiful baldhead
17. Muscle shirt, no, unless you actually have them
18. A casual lounge about photo with a good view of your stomach isn't prize worthy
19. No side views.
20. A mountain range background is nice, but seeing you as a dot, is not
21. Do a "mini photo shoot" specifically for your dating site picture. Keep shooting till you get it right.
22. It's okay to have a backgroud/backdrop in your picture, just make sure it's not too distracting.
23. And no cheesy poses!!! ie: Hand on the chin...on the cheek...in fact, keep your hands away from your face!
24. Ask a friend or two what they think.
So...call up your friend, get out that digital camera and have some fun!
If you've followed our tips up to this point, you should be at the point where either you are starting to get contacted or you are ready to contact someone else. As the saying goes... You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
So how should you behave during the crucial first contacts?
